Hemblington: All Saints, Blofield Heath

About our church
The 1929 Kelly's Directory of Norfolk describes All Saints Church Hemblington as..."a small building of rubble in the Gothic style of the 15th Century..."

What an understatement! Here we have a church which has been possibly worshipped in, with the tower being Saxon-Norman, for almost a thousand years.

The local community, past and present have endeavoured to maintain their church. The quality of the font and the wall painting reflect past wealth being found to help create a lovely, unique church. Re-using material is nothing new, with a coffin stone lid for a step and with some of the roof timbers showing traces of prior use.

A small group of devoted worshippers is determined to keep the church going as a place of regular worship. It is part of our precious heritage of ecclesiastical architecture which is to be enjoyed for the living church, its people.
